The Wave
The break sits in front of the property.
El Tránsito has one of the most consistent and uncrowded surf breaks on Nicaragua’s Pacific coast. The wave breaks directly in front of Mandla, accessible from the property’s beach, and works almost every day of the year. Offshore winds blow two hundred and fifty days out of three hundred and sixty-five. Most mornings, you will share the lineup with no one.

The home break.
A sand-bottom A-frame that holds shape through most tides. The wave is rideable year-round, with the cleanest conditions from November through April. Beginner-friendly inside section on smaller days, with a faster outside section on bigger swells. Most days break in the chest-to-shoulder-high range, with overhead days during the south swell season.
Paddle out from the beach in front of the property. No road crossings. No crowds. No competition for waves.

Nearby breaks.
Within a short drive or boat ride from Mandla, El Tránsito offers four distinct surf breaks across a mile of coastline. A long-walling left at Puerto Sandino — one of the longer rides in Nicaragua. A punchy beach break a few minutes down the sand. A reef wave accessible only by boat. A barreling right that rarely goes flat. Each break offers something different for surfers looking to build their week around variety rather than repetition.

Boards, coaching, and guides.
Board rental, wax, and surf accessories are available on-site. Local guides who have surfed these waters their entire lives are available for half-day and full-day sessions, with knowledge of which breaks work best on which tides, swells, and wind directions. For guests staying through hosted retreat operators, structured coaching is built into the program. For private guests, custom arrangements can be made through the property.
