Getting There

How do I get to Mandla?

Mandla is a 90-minute drive from Managua International Airport (MGA). Most international guests fly into Managua and we arrange ground transportation directly from the airport to the property. The road is paved most of the way, with a short final stretch through El Tránsito village.

Do I need a visa to enter Nicaragua?

Most visitors from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. A $10 USD tourist card is issued on arrival. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from your travel date.

Is Nicaragua safe to visit?

El Tránsito and the León department are widely considered among the safest areas in Nicaragua for travelers. Mandla is a private property with twenty-four hour security. We recommend the same common-sense precautions you would take traveling anywhere — but most guests describe their time at Mandla as among the most relaxed and worry-free trips they have ever taken.

At the Property

What is included in a stay at Mandla?

Most stays at Mandla include accommodation in an ensuite casita, all meals prepared by our chef, non-alcoholic beverages, use of the property amenities (pool, yoga deck, beach access), and 24-hour staff support. Specific inclusions vary depending on whether you are booking through a hosted retreat operator, as a private guest, or as a full property buyout.

Is the water safe to drink?

Filtered drinking water is available throughout the property at no charge. We recommend filtered water for drinking, brushing teeth, and ice. Bottled water is also available on request.

Is there WiFi?

Yes. High-speed WiFi is available throughout the property at no additional charge. The connection is reliable enough for video calls, streaming, and remote work.

What about power and air conditioning?

All casitas have air conditioning, hot water, and reliable electricity. The property has backup generator power for any outages. Standard outlets accept Type A (US/Canada style) plugs.

Weather and Seasons

When is the best time to visit?

November through April is the dry season — sunny days, cool mornings, consistent surf, and minimal rain. May through October is the green season — warmer, occasional afternoon showers, and lush landscapes. Both seasons offer excellent surf, but the dry season is the most popular among first-time visitors.

What should I pack?

Light tropical clothing, swimwear, sun protection, reef-safe sunblock, and a light layer for cooler evenings. If you surf, you can bring your own board or use ours. We provide towels, beach towels, and basic toiletries in every casita.
